Our 2009 HALL Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc balances expressively ripe fruit with bright, buoyant acidity. The backbone of this lusty blend hails from a vineyard partner in the cool region of Yountville and delivers ripe vibrant citrus flavors. Grapes from our Napa River Ranch contribute poetic minerality while Hardester vineyard fruit imparts lush tropical aromatics and opulent texture. Fermented mostly in stainless steel tanks and refrained from malolactic fermentation, our Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc possesses an assured fruit forwardness, freshness, and focus. We harvested our grapes at the height of ripeness and stirred the yeast lees after fermentation. The result is a rich wine with layered texture. Aromas of pink grapefruit and Meyer lemon blossom are complemented by a lush cascade of guava and lychee on the palate carrying through to a crisp, ringing finish.

Home to our St. Helena winery, the HALL “Bergfeld” Cabernet Sauvignon is born of an historic site. It was originally planted in 1859 by the pioneering winegrower Robert Bergfeld who also owned our historic winery from 1894 to 1910. The vineyard is planted in free-draining soils, atop the bed where Sulfur Creek once flowed. Loose gravel and river rock still remain and are integrated in the multifarious soils around the vines.
Our 2006 HALL “Bergfeld” St. Helena Cabernet Sauvignon, produced entirely from this single vineyard, has been rounded with Malbec, Merlot and Petit Verdot to lend layering and aromatic lift. Deeply hued, the aromas are crammed with jammy blackberry, roasted espresso, fennel, and black currant. The sweet mid-palate overflows with ripened plum and cassis, concluding with warm, spicy oak. Though tempting upon release, the 2006 “Bergfeld” will gain richness and complexity over the next 10-12 years.

Our 2006 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is an orchestral mélange of hand-selected fruit from our Hardester, Napa River Ranch, Bergfeld and Sacrashe vineyards. Each distinctive terroir interweaves complementary components which culminate in a preeminent Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, a gestalt of balanced, rich, concentrated character.
The inviting deep ruby color and rich aromatics of cassis, roasted espresso bean and dark ripe plum follow through with flavors of blackberry, crème cassis and hints of graphite that linger relentlessly. Rewarding now, this wine will continue to impress for 5-10 years.

The 2006 vintage of our HALL Napa Valley Merlot is a rich cuveé from two of our premier estate
vineyards. HALL’s extensive vineyard holdings have allowed us to determine and cultivate the most ideal locations for our Merlot vines. Merlot from our Hardester Vineyard is planted in limiting soils on a hillside enclave to promote intensely concentrated, small berries with great structure and backbone. The cool valley-floor vines at Napa River Ranch allow this Merlot to express generous red fruit and a velvety texture.
Expect an alluring nose of bing cherry, violets, cocoa and baking spice which leads seamlessly on the palate to a rich and elegant mid-palate. Expressive flavors of dark cherry, toasted oak and blackberry jam will continue to evolve for the next 5-7 years.

Hidden in the northeast Mayacamas Mountains of Napa Valley, the inimitable Diamond Mountain appellation has scarce plantings in light fractured volcanic soils. With a mere 500 acres of vineyard plantings, access to this esteemed fruit is quite rare. We are among a fortunate few able to create such distinctive wine from this revered appellation. The 2007 HALL “Diamond Mountain District” Cabernet Sauvignon embodies its terroir in athletic, elaborate expression. The nose explodes with savory roasted herbs, mocha and a medley of mountain berries, while flavors of ultra-ripe black plum, orange pekoe tea, dark chocolate ganache, and dusty lavender persist. The mouthfeel is, at once, sweet, lush and concentrated, re flecting the wine’s origins. Soft, silky tannins invite early enjoyment, but the wine will continue to impress for 10-15 years.
